Stratford Grangecon GAA are committed to providing the very best possible facilities for our Players, Club members and the local community.
The continuing development of our facilities is seen as a crucially important objective and the Club Executive has in place an active ‘Development’ sub committee comprising of Mark Byrne, Gerard O’Keeffe and James G Barrett who together with the assistance of Paddy Byrne continue to provide their professional services and expertise free of charge for the advancement of our Club and community facilities.
The development sub committee together with the club executive set in place the goals and objectives for the short term and long term development of the clubhouse and grounds and put in place a plan of action in order to achieve these development targets.
Included in the development plan for 2015 are the following,
- The construction of a first floor extension to accommodate a gymnasium
- The laying of a sprung timber floor to the existing sports hall
- The construction of player dugouts for the sports field
It is a target to have the above development works completed in time for the 2015 Féile festival in June.
Following on from a significant amount of effort, the Club was hugely successful in securing a €60,000 Sports Capital Grant from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for the works this year, however, the Club is still required to provide an additional €10,000 in order to draw down the grant and complete the proposed development works.
The Club needs to fundraise this year in order to achieve that sum and so everything raised by the Club from the National GAA Draw is for the development fund.
This year the National Draw raised €1,610 for the development fund.
